LG V30 launched with OLED FullVisin display

LG V30 launched with OLED FullVisin display

LG has finally released all of the specs and details about the new LG V30 smartphone which updates the V20. The phone offers an optimal one handed grip. The smartphone resembles the previously launched G6 smartphone.

When it comes to the camera, it has seen the most drastic change from the previous LG flagship, V20. Apps were lightning fast to open and multitasking was smooth, but we've yet to put the processor fully through its paces. The leaks were mostly accurate but LG did have a few surprises too.

The LG V30 is heavily focused on imaging, optics and Hi-Fi audio. The tempered glass that covers both the front and back is curved all the way around the edge, resulting in a sleek, integrated look and feel.

Meanwhile the second camera, which has a slower, plastic lens, is ultra-wide-angle.

There is also a thermal pad and heating pipe to make the device cooler even with high-performance usage. It comes with an IP68 rating and is waterproof and dustproof.

The edge-to-edge screen means that LG has been able to wedge a 6in 1440 x 2880 pixel display with Gorilla Glass 5 in the V30's chassis - a sizeable increase from the 5.7in panel used in the G6, but with a smaller footprint.

Going the distance: Bus tour travels for best view of upcoming eclipse
The Southern Cross Astronomical Society will have professional telescopes on site for eclipse viewing from 1 p.m.to 4 p.m. Four days later, they realized that that would be the day of a total solar eclipse visible on Martha's Vineyard.

Gone is the second screen, instead, you get a 6 inch 18:9 4K OLED display with minimal bezels, in a shiny, shiny premium feeling metal frame. With the LG V30, the South Korean company got everything right on the design front to make it a ideal competitor for the flagship Galaxy smartphones. The device runs on the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box with the in-house LG UX 6.0+ UI on top. Much like it is in the LG G6. The Cine Effect feature allows you to select from different presets before shooting video, and there's even going to be an LG specific Google Assistant camera command.

Since we're on the topic of software, we should also note that LG has added two new face unlock and voice unlock features. There is optical image stabilisation in the primary lens to stabilise the shots. While the rear camera sports 16MP and 13MP lens, the front camera is of 5MP.

LG V30 places a big focus on video recording and audio support. The emphasis, however, on is delivering better audio and photography experience. Audio from the V30 should sound good with Quad DAC and B&O Play branded speakers (plus bundled earphones in some markets).

The onboard storage in the LG V30 is 64GB and there is a V30+ variant with 128GB. The LG V30 is 8mm shorter and 3 mm narrower than its predecessor and weighs in at 158gms. It will be more expensive as well.

Does looking at the image gallery make you want to purchase the V30? This comparison was based on specs on paper. But if you're an LG die-hard fan, the best part will be the integration with LG appliances (washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, air purifiers, ovens, air conditioners, and robot vacuums) and Google Home.
