White Sox Jose Quintana traded to Cubs for top prospects

White Sox Jose Quintana traded to Cubs for top prospects

I love Verdugo as much as the next guy, but the outfield is just too crowded. This shows the different positions the two teams are in now and they are polar opposites.

Jose Quintana comes to the Cubs in the midst of the worst season of his six-year career.

Quintana will also be the second-youngest starter in the corps behind Kyle Hendricks.

Quintana, 28, is 4-8 with a 4.49 ERA this season after going 13-12 with a 3.20 ERA past year.

Then there is his extremely team-friendly contract. Then there's a club option for $10.5 million in 2019 and an $11.5 million club option in 2020. And baseball executives believe the White Sox were more interested in Chance Adams than Sheffield among Yankee pitching prospects.

The previous trade took place in 2007 when the Chicago White Sox traded Neal Cotts for Carlos Vasquez and David Aardsma. Cease was ranked 83rd.

Eloy Jimenez makes an incredible catch in the 2016 Futures Game.

US Prepared to Defend Against North Korean Attack, China Defends North Korea
Restricting guest workers is one way the US and other countries could try to reduce North Korea's access to foreign currency. President Trump is clearly frustrated with what he perceives as China's failure to rein in its trading partner.

76ers get No. 1 pick from Celtics
Overall, this looks like it will shape out to be a good move for the Sixers if Fultz fills out the way that he is expected to. Hence, the pick protections were negotiated in: the Celtics would only get the pick if it fell between the 2-5 slots.

Man who shot congressman was living in van, called a loner
Hodgkinson owned a home inspection business, which he dissolved on January 10, according to Secretary of State corporate records. Court records show that Hodgkinson's legal trouble started in the 1990s with arrests for resisting police and drunken driving.

In his quest to acquire every member of MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospects, White Sox GM Rick Hahn's plan came one step closer to fruition on Thursday morning. Jose Quintana will be staying the Windy City and moving after the Cubs sent a rich prospect package which included Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease, their top two minor leaguers. He's seen Quintana's numbers this season and knows they are slightly down, but said, "That's a big addition for the Cubs". To Epstein, that is more important than looking toward the Cubs' immediate future, not their long term future. There wasn't much communication between them until Hahn reached out on Sunday. While the body types aren't exactly the same, a lot of the projections that fell on current Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr. could also apply to Cease.

SportsLine projections show that adding Quintana added one win for the Cubs the rest of the way. The Tigers are also said to be fielding interest in pitchers Justin Verlander and Daniel Norris.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have made starting pitcher Gerrit Cole available but at a high price. It happened between these two crosstown rivals that have historically been reluctant to make big trades with one another.

"We love what we're getting", Epstein said.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are now 9/1 to win the 2017 World Series following the trade acquisition of Quintana on Thursday. Hahn held out for the best offer on Quintana and struck with another of baseball's best prospects. The Sox announced the stunning deal on Twitter before the news was reported or even hinted at in the media.

The Cubs trail Milwaukee by 5½ games in the division at 43-45 after ending a 108-year championship drought last fall.
