E3 2017: Microsoft Finally Unveils Xbox One X for $499

While Microsoft ultimately made a decision to call its new console Xbox One X, other names were considered and Head of Xbox Phil Spencer shared with IGN a few of those alternate names.

The Xbox One X may not be a next-generation console, but, the mid-cycle Xbox refresh from Microsoft has enough horsepower under the hood to grant it the label of being the most powerful gaming console in the world when it arrives later this year.

The timing of this price drop is no coincidence - Microsoft's Xbox group is holding a big press conference in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, where the company is expected to detail the next, significantly more powerful version of the Xbox One (codenamed "Project Scorpio").

Unsurprisingly, with all of that power going spare the new Xbox One X will be able to deliver full 4K content - including games. The console is all about power and Greenberg said that games would look and play better on Xbox One X. Well, there is no clue, what make Microsoft Select X as the unique title for its new console, instead, Scorpio sounds killing.

It's over four times as powerful as the original Xbox One, which had an 853MHz GPU pushing 1.31 teraflops.

The PS4 Pro was, until June 2017, the most capable console out there.

The One X will go on sale on November 7, Microsoft confirmed during a showcase ahead of E3, one of the gaming industry's largest conventions. They introduced Minecraft yet again, and revealed that it would be getting a 4K patch, as well as cross platform, and console compatibility.

That's not to say, though, that the Xbox One X won't run legacy titles - but it'll do so in a different way to the PS4 Pro.

There's no denying the failure of the Xbox One. The design is even more conservative, too - it's basically a no-nonsense black box that contains the most ambitious of console gaming power within. Some of these games are Enhanced for Xbox One X titles. At the heart of the Xbox One X, sits the Scorpio Engine.

The Xbox One X comes sporting eight custom x86 cores clocked in at 2.3GHz.

On paper, Xbox One X is pure gold.

4K Xbox One X GamesAssassin's Creed Origins will have 4K support on Xbox One X. We know the price is $499 / £449 (which is a heck of a lot of money). Current games on the market will be receiving updates on the new console to improve colour depth, frame rate, resolution and loading times.
