Here's what's coming, courtesy of Apple's introduction of its new operating system.
Apple on Monday launched a bunch of refinements in its all four platforms - tvOS, watchOS, macOS and iOS - at this year's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with iOS 11, watchOS 4 and updates to its Mac line of desktops and notebooks. Settle down, iPhone lovers - these, unfortunately, aren't new iPhones.
The feature, called "Do Not Disturb While Driving", will be part of Apple's iOS 11, a new version of the operating software for Apple mobile devices.
Apple kicked off the reveal with a "world premiere" of Monument Valley 2, a successor to the M.C Escher-inspired game by UsTwo.
"iOS 11 makes it easier and more intuitive than ever to multitask", Apple says.
Machine learning was a recurring theme throughout Apple's presentation today, and it powers a wide range of features across Apple's devices, from recognizing images on Mac to improving battery life on iPhone.
It's clear Apple's iPad hit the reset switch on tablets and changed everything, and in the iPad Pro, Apple aimed to do more, replacing the PC generation with the iPad. Watch out, Venmo, PayPal and Square.
Apple also introduced a person-to-person payment feature to Apple Pay. Apple still has some explaining to do when it comes to the finer details.
You can use Apple Pay at certain brick-and-mortar stores (Apple says 50 percent of US retailers will support Apple Pay by the end of the year), online web stores via Safari, and in certain iPhone apps. Apple also says there will be enhancements to Safari and Mail with High Sierra when it releases for free in the third quarter of this year. With iOS 11, Apple officially pulls the plug and refuses to open or run 32-bit apps at all.
"It was reported last week as this AmazonEcho killer, but in reality it is more a smart music speaker", said Brian Blau, Gartner's research vice president who specializes in Apple. In addition, Siri can now translate phrases for you, from English to Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
Siri will get more nuanced speaking voices and will be smarter too with "on-device learning". Control Center packs such tools now in a single view, which you can get to with an upward swipe gesture.
Apple also announced camera improvements, including more photo effects like long exposure mode and upgrades for better low-light photography. App Store editors will uncover the stories behind iOS developers as well, and there will be more focus on reviews, etc. This is another feature I'll need to try.
- A redesigned app switcher that makes it easier to move between active apps.
Users will be able to see Apple Maps, Apple's navigation application, while driving - though they will be unable to input destinations.
Apple Music is also going to be more closely integrated with the watch, with automatic syncing for playlists.
